«Without points it makes no sense»

Eugenie Bouchard (28) does without her comeback at Wimbledon. It makes no sense for the Canadian as there are no points. Naomi Osaka (24) also has to give up for the lawn major.

Eugenie Bouchard has not played a game since March 2021. The former top 5 player was suffering from a shoulder injury. At Wimbledon she should have made her comeback. However, she voluntarily does without it – for tactical reasons.

“I have decided to withdraw from Wimbledon because of the WTA decision not to award ranking points,” Bouchard wrote on Twitter. Because of the British organizers’ decision to exclude the Russian and Belarusian tennis stars, the WTA and ATP decided not to award points at Wimbledon. A decision that caused a stir.
