Stephen Curry’s humility summed up in an anecdote

The Warriors are back on top and just like the shock trio Curry-Thompson-Green, Steve Kerr can now take the time to savor. Guest of the “The Lowe Post” podcast, the Golden State coach returned to this victorious journey, revealing an anecdote to sum up the humility of Stephen Currya superstar who does not put his personal case before that of the team.

The story goes back to the first round of the playoffs against Denver, which “Chief Curry” started while just recovering from a left foot injury.

“He was coming back from injury and was limited to 20 minutes per game. So we took him off the bench. After the first game, we increased his playing time and from the second game, it was already close to 30 minutes. At that point, I went up to him and said, ‘Steph, if you want to start, you’re Steph Curry, that’s up to you.said Steve Kerr. “Steph was like, ‘Actually, we’re playing really well, Jordan (Poole) is on the pace, we’re 2-0 down… Let’s keep it going’. »

The Warriors will keep this operation, which amused Stephen Curry and his coach in training.

“Coming off the bench suited him perfectly. And we really laughed about it the following days. I remember when the starters were announced, he was next to me, I turned to him and said, ‘Steph, you know, if you work hard enough, you too could start in a playoff game one day. NBA’. It made him laugh and the following days in training, he said to me: ‘Look at me coach! Look how hard I work! I deserve it! I know I can do it!’. That’s Stephen Curry. Something that could be a serious problem with other stars, it becomes a big joke for him. »

“He’s our Magic Johnson, our Tim Duncan. It’s the face of the franchise. Everything was built around him”

As humble as he is, Stephen Curry is nonetheless a proud and ambitious player, as proved by his sentence on the podium after the victory over Boston: “ And what are they going to say now?« .

A spade sent to those who reproached him for not having won a Finals MVP trophy. A personal goal he had set for himself and which he accomplished brilliantly against the Celtics

“It meant so much to him considering where we’ve been for the past two years. Forget what everyone was saying about him needing a Finals MVP title. We don’t care what anyone says: you could see in his eyes that he needed it, for him. He really wanted that Finals MVP title and trophy and he got it. He is the main architect of all this. He’s our Magic Johnson, our Tim Duncan. It’s the face of the franchise. Everything was built around him. For this reason, I will always think that this title will go down as Stephen’s crowning glory.”he concluded.
