St. Pauli & HSV don’t let RB in – cup posse! Regional league before Leipzig move – Bundesliga

The date is fixed. On August 30 (8:45 p.m.), RB Leipzig will catch up with their first-round game in the DFB Cup at Teutonia Ottensen. But it is still unclear where the game will take place.

Because the regional league team is not allowed to play on artificial turf in their “Hoheluft” stadium, a replacement stadium is needed. The second division teams St.Pauli (“Millerntor”) and HSV (“Volksparkstadion”) have already canceled and will not make their stadiums available.

Now a home right swap is the hottest option!

According to BILD information, the Hamburgers are in contact with the DFB and RB to explore the possibilities of playing in Leipzig. Teutonia coach David Bergner (48): “We’ll just have to wait and see. RB definitely has a nice and big stadium.” The cup game will be broadcast live on “Sky” and on ZDF.

► Disadvantage: The Teutonia fans (665 came on average per home game last season) would have to drive the 400 kilometers to Leipzig to cheer on their team on site.

► Advantage: There would probably be more Leipzig fans, the regional league would benefit from the larger audience revenue (divided 50:50).

It would definitely be financially more attractive for the regional league team than moving to Lübeck, for example.

Next week Friday Ottensen will start the pre-season. Then the question of the stadium should be clarified as far as possible.

By the way: The game has to be rescheduled in August because Leipzig will play Bayern Munich in the Supercup on July 30th.
