Sports Tolima, finalist of the 2022-I League: will face Nacional – Colombian Soccer – Sports

Two years ago, if you asked a Deportes Tolima fan if he saw his team playing three finals in a row, they would surely look at you strangely. Of course, surely they would have answered that the illusion is always there. Well, the time has come: Hernán Torres’ team will be Nacional’s rival in the 2022-I League final.

It was not easy. She had to beat Envigado, something that on paper seemed like a formality. But the oranges risked their dignity and demanded their rival, whom 1-0 was enough for him to continue dreaming of the fourth star.

With an early goal, Tolima seemed to breathe easy

Tolima did not want to wait for what could happen in Techo. And after 10 minutes he was already winning, with a move that they know by heart: Andrés Ibargüen’s side charge and Sergio Mosquera’s header, who spent almost three months without playing.

“I dedicate this to my father, to my family, to my mother who is in the stands. We dreamed of it from the beginning, I couldn’t be there, now we are given the opportunity to play a new final. We hope to close with a flourish and think about Nacional”, Mosquera told Win Sports +.

Then there was a scare due to the VAR, when an action in the local area was reviewed for an alleged foul on Jesús Hernández, but, finally, nothing was sanctioned.

But that action emboldened Envigado, who added dignity to the matter and tried to scare goalkeeper William Cuesta. Hernández tried it from a distance and demanded it, but he could not score.

The tone of the match was maintained in the second stage, when Envigado continued to show signs of courage and good play that had been lacking in the rest of the home run. And Tolima tried to control the game so as not to get scared, because he didn’t generate much around the orange area either.

Tolima had a difficult shot, but held the result

Tolima was walking on the edge of the abyss, especially near the end, when Envigado still did not surrender and went for a tie. The game was hand in hand, as if the visitors were also fighting for classification.

Hernán Torres and his team have many things to celebrate: they are in the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores and now they are going for the star again, again against Nacional, whom they already defeated four years ago, this time, with Alberto Gamero on the bench. The dream is more than alive.
