Sport intended as a vehicle for physical well-being, for the soul, for social inclusion and as a key to values that opens up physical barriers and prejudices. All this and much more in the Sport Health and Inclusion event, a journey into the world of disability through the sports, medical and social aspects.
The event, organized by Mostra dello Sport Catanese and Pianeta Vacanze Consulting, in collaboration with the US Acli Catania and the Come Ginestre Onlus association, with the patronage of the Cannizzaro Hospital – Unipolar Spinal Unit, will take place from Friday 24 to Sunday June 26, 2022, at the I Portali shopping park in San Giovanni La Punta (CT).
The event will be animated by a series of activities aimed at social integration through sport in order to counteract all forms of discrimination, encourage inclusion, breaking down all types of barriers, fostering relationships between sportsmen and non-sportsmen, regardless of physical, mental and social conditions.
Within the commercial gallery, several areas will be set up in which the following activities will be carried out: Sector medical seminar with the participation, both in presence and by videoconference, of doctors, operators, institutional and medical associations from the world of disability and not; Technical area with the presence of professionals in the sectors of acupuncture, massage therapy, osteopathy, posturology and physiotherapy who will carry out consultancy and practices for both disabled and non-disabled persons; Sports area with the setting up of competition fields in which sports activities will take place with Paralympic and non-Paralympic athletes, with integrated teams that will compete in the disciplines of Basketball, Badminton, Sports Dance, Rugby, Sitting Volley, Fencing, Archery and Table Tennis. Relaxation area reserved for disabled and non-disabled people, where they can try their hand at mixed couples tournaments of burraco, table football, checkers and chess. Exhibition area with offer of dedicated services.
The event will be enhanced by the presence of numerous sports testimonials from all over Sicily, including some athletes who have participated and won medals at the Paralympics, such as Marcella Librizzi, Badminton and Fencing champion.
Present sports clubs recognized by the CIP and CONI of the various sports disciplines, national and regional sector associations: Team Trinacria – Armwrestling Federation; Italian Badminton Federation; Fira – Help relationship imprint training; Catania Rugby amateurs; Wheelchair Rugby Team (Wheelchair Rugby Catania); Team ASD All Sporting (Wheelchair Rugby Catania, Paralympic Swimming and Padel in wheelchair); CREOSS Association – Social Health Operators; Shatsu Taomakoto Operator School of Maestro Antonio Litrico; “San Demetrio” Amateur Shooting Sports Association; Con-Tatto Cultural Association; Indoor 2.0; Anthony Pilli team; Kinetika – posture and movement kinesiology; ASD Fra. But. Sport Club; Volcano Sportabilia (Wheelchair Tennis); Red Devils; Line Dance School. Acli Catania was also present as a social partner of the event.
Outside the shopping arcade there will be the ambulance of the San Marco Blood Donors Association of Catania.
