Spain contributes 48 athletes to the European Youth Paralympic Games

A total of 48 Spanish athletes with disabilities between the ages of 14 and 23, accompanied by six guides, will participate between Friday and Sunday this week in the European Youth Paralympic Games, which will be held in Pajulahti (Finland).

Among them, the members of the promising Paralympic swimming, athletics and table tennis teams stand out, according to the Spanish Paralympic Committee (CPE).

The largest group will be the Liberty Seguros Promises Paralympic Athletics Team, which will include Elena Latre, Joan Sirera, Tania Castillo, Ana Moya, Ismael Romero, Sydney Fokou, Carolina Yuste, Nuria Pascual, Gerard Vivas, Gonzalo Iniesta, Gara Fuentes. and the guide Jaime del Río.

The AXA Promises Paralympic Swimming Team will have five representatives: Aitana Estrada, Mahamadou Dambeleh, Enrique Alhambra, Álex Villarejo and Jaime Montero. And the Verallia Team of Paralympic Table Tennis Promises will be made up of Iker González, Marlon López, Alejandro Díaz, Edgar Mataró, Olaia Martínez and Amanda Chenoll.

The objective of these teams is to achieve a high level of performance of young athletes with greater projection in the medium and long term through technical training and specialization plans, attendance at national and international competitions, and support for coaches and clubs, and with the eyes set on the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.

The 54 members of the national delegation -19 girls and 35 boys- will compete in six disciplines: athletics (26 athletes plus 6 guides), boccia (3), goalball (4), judo (4), swimming (6) and table tennis. table (6), with an athlete who will compete in both goalball and judo. The participation of thirty national delegations from all over the continent is expected.
