SOC Basket Grand Narbonne: an octogenarian in great shape

It’s a big club that has been partying lately: big in age with its 85 years of existence; great also by the number of its members, its teams and the supervisors.

The party celebrating the 85th anniversary of SOC Basket Grand Narbonne was an opportunity for President Patrick Romain to take stock of the yellow and blue club. “With its 220 members, its 13 teams (baby, mini-chicks, chicks, benjamins, minimal, cadets, senior girls and senior boys), all involved in the championship, its 20 leaders, including 10 coaches, the club is one of the most old man in the region and, what is more, one of those with the largest number of licensees”said President Romain in particular in his speech, in the presence of personalities and sponsors.

We will add that it is obviously a dynamic club which multiplies, among other things, internships during school holidays, basketball operations with schools, which participates in many tournaments, that several of its players have also been part of regional selections . But there is no question of resting on its laurels, and the program for the coming months is full. Several courses are indeed planned in August as well as participation in the Sports Festival, organized by the City during the month of September, and also in project, the creation of a microbasket section for children under 5 years old. . “You need educators to supervise these toddlersofficials say, but still also find rooms to relocate certain training because all the time slots are taken”.

It will be understood, the SOC Basket has been a dynamic club for 85 years. “We want to continue, to maintain ourselves as high as possible. Let’s not forget that we have a team in Pre-nat and one in Regional. There are the results but also there is a state of mind of which we are proud. This living together is essential”, explains the president. The close-knit team proudly wears the colors of sport in general, of basketball in particular, of Coursan and of this volunteerism that is lost so much.
