French point guard/back Sidy Cissoko leaves the Baskonia club to join the NBA G-League Ignite. He is the first European to join this formation.
After a season spent in LEB Oro, at Iraurgi, Sidy Cissoko (2.00 m, 18 years old) is not going to return to Baskonia. The young point guard/back has signed up for the NBA G-League Ignite. Boukhary Cissoko’s little brother (who has just joined Kaysersberg) is the first European to join this team made up of NBA prospects. In addition to a substantial salary, he will benefit from exceptional conditions to prepare for the 2023 NBA Draft.
Rear/leader of 2.00 m born in 2004, he was trained in the Paris region before leaving very young for the Basque Country to continue his apprenticeship in the youth categories of the Vitoria club. Sent to a satellite club this season, the son of former Senegalese international Yakia Cissoko (who took part in the Moscow Olympics in 1980 before playing in France, notably in Antibes) had a good year in the Spanish second division (10 .8 points on 41.9% shooting success, 3 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 23 minutes). Enough to allow him to participate in the Hoop Summit 2022.
Present at EuroBasket this summer
This summer, the Essonnien has planned to play the EuroBasket U18 with the France team. Last summer, he participated in the Euro Challengers U18 with the France U17 team. In 22 minutes on average, he had shot 7.8 points with 42.9% shooting success, 3.2 rebounds and 3 assists for 11.2 evaluation.
