Santo Domingo Association wins SPM Archery Cup

SAN PEDRO DE MACORIS.- After two years without holding the San Pedro Cup, the Association of this Municipality directed by Jennifer García, celebrated it within the framework of the patron saint festivities with a massive participation of Archers in 50 and 70 meters.

This year the associations of Santo Domingo, Santiago, La Vega, Duarte (San Francisco de Macoris) and the hosts of San Pedro de Macoris participated and it began with the National Anthem performed by all the participants, immediately Jenny García mother of a goalkeeper, made the Invocation, while the President of the Sports Union of the Province of San Pedro de Macoris Raymundo Gantier addressed those present, expressing satisfaction for the once again realization of this tournament carried out by the active Archery Association.

William Hernández Vice President of the Dominican Archery Federation on behalf of President José Miguel Robiou who had to be absent due to having to accompany the delegation that would leave for Colombia to the Bolivarian Games, stated that Fedota is working for the promotion and development of this discipline and with the realization of this long-awaited tournament by the Dominican archers and expressed that with activities such as the one carried out by the leaders of San Pedro de Macoris, they collaborate with what is correct in Dominican society.

The central words were offered by the President of the Petromacorisana Archery Association who thanked the confidence of her brothers from various associations in the country who attended this event on the advancement and progress of archery and, especially for the participation of young people who It is the reason for being in sports and citizen work.

Among the winners of the individual Olympic round, in the men’s compound bow modality, the winner was Mario Bergés from Sto Dgo, second place Bryan Thompson from Sto Dgo and third place Rubén Jiménez from Santiago.

In the female compound, the gold was won by Ysmarlin Ramos from La Vega, the silver won by Carlina Guzmán from Sto Dgo and the bronze by Lucía Cordero from Sto Dgo. While in the Men’s Recurve modality the winner was Heriberto Jiménez from La Vega who won the Gold, the silver went to Kevin Hendrichs from Sto Dgo and the bronze to Luis Jáquez from La Vega.

In the women’s Recurve category, the winner was Santa Ortíz from San Pedro, the second place went to Camila Pérez from Santo Domingo and the third place went to Rodelin Sarit from San Pedro.

At the level of Associations, the first place was obtained by the Association of Santo Domingo, the second place went to La Vega and the hosts of San Pedro de Macoris.

In the San Pedro Cup, the host Association gave a medal to the effort, courage and optimism to the San Francisco de Macoris athlete José Figueroa who returned to the Archery competitions, after having an accident in December of last year where he suffered the amputation of part of his right leg, they gave the honor of delivery to the President of the Franco-Macorisana Association of Archery William Hernández.
