Ryan Giggs resigns as Wales coach with immediate effect: “It was an honor and privilege to lead this team”

Ryan Giggs officially announced his resignation as head coach of Wales on Monday evening. The former Manchester United winger stepped down from his post in November 2020 after being arrested. Robert Page took over from Giggs as interim coach.

“I am retiring from my position as manager of the Wales national team. It was an honor and a privilege to lead this team,” said Giggs, who was accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, among other things. Giggs denied those allegations.

Robert Page took over as interim boss of Wales and most recently led the Welshmen to their first World Cup appearance since 1958.
