The main battles of “Safari Rally Kenya” are expected in the next three days, but the 4.84 km long super special dop “Kasarani” took place today.
Already in the first turn, the Rovanpera-driven Toyota almost overturned on the roof, but the vehicle successfully fell back on the wheels and was able to continue driving. With a dead rear right tire and a damaged car body, the Finnish driver reached the finish line and lost 11.6 seconds to his teammate Ojie.
Ajaccio, who is in the third stage of the WRC this season, has become the original leader, but his closest followers were Hyundai unit drivers Terry Neuwille and Ots Tanak, who won a race in Sardinia a few weeks ago. In fourth place was Toyota driver Elfin Evans, and fifth was veteran Sebastien Leb from M-Sport. He, like Ogier, has entered the WRC for the third time this season.
Kajetan Kajetanovich is the leader in the WRC2 Open, where only a few of the regular drivers have gone to Kenya, beating Martin Procop and Sean Johnston.
