Rodrigo Sanjurjo and Nikol Carulla get the bronze in the Croatian tournament

International players from Club Badminton A Estrada Rodrigo Sanjurjo and Nikol Carulla, accompanied by CGTD coach Rafa Vázquez, traveled to Croatia last weekend. There they put out their best game and after a spectacular match against the French Barbieri/Jacob, they got into the semifinals winning in two sets by 21/18 21/19. Already in the semifinals there was a tough couple, with the Japanese Ota / Muroya, and after an intense three-set match, the match was decided in favor of the Japanese, hanging the estradenses a well-deserved bronze medal.

On the other hand, in Pontevedra the fifth Cidade de Pontevedra tournament was held this weekend, in sub 15 and sub 19 categories, where the Estradenses did not disappoint. In the U-19 category, Alejandro Barcala and Rubén Comeròn won gold in doubles, after beating their club mate Manu Miguez and Hugo Salgueiro, from Ravachol, who took silver. The bronze went to Hugo Domínguez and his partner from San Amaro Samuel Santabaya.

In mixed doubles, Manu Miguez took silver with Carlota Martínez (San Amaro). In individual Alejandro Barcala got the silver medal, and Hugo Domínguez hung the bronze.

In the U-15 category, Darío Miguez won gold in mixed doubles, teaming up with Sara del Castillo (San Amaro) and the bronze medal in individual. In women’s doubles, the twins Antía and Iria Martín climbed on the box again, winning the bronze medal. David Domínguez also participated, who continues to gain experience in higher category tournaments.
