Rector of the UAA meets with outstanding students at the National University UACJ 2022

The rector of the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes, Dr. in C. Francisco Javier Avelar González, held a meeting with four students outstanding for their participation in the XXIV edition of the National Universiade convened by the National Council of Sports of Education (CONDDE).

The rector of the highest house of studies in the state congratulated the athletes for raising the name of the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes at the national level, achieving excellent results thanks to their perseverance, audacity, effort and performance demonstrated in the different disciplines. In this way, he pointed out that they were worthy representatives of the institutional values ​​and of the university community, for which he urged them to continue preparing for future competitions.

This event took place from May 12 to June 5 in Ciudad Juárez and the UAA obtained a silver and two bronze medals. The winners are Roberto Ángel Márquez Muñoz, a student of the Bachelor of Marketing, who won a silver medal in the 3,000-meter athletics race with obstacles; Dhamar Arlette Chavarría Rocha, student of the Bachelor of Physical Culture and Sports, with a bronze medal in the 52 kg judo category; and finally, Atziri Alejandra Varela Mendoza, belonging to the Biological Pharmaceutical Chemist program and Jocelyn Karen Cervantes Aguilar, Biomedical Engineering student, with the bronze medal in the women’s doubles modality of badminton.

This year, the UAA participated in 12 of the 26 sports convened by the CONDDE, this being the first time that these four athletes participate in the competition. It should be noted that all of them have competitive experience from the youth category as part of the state team, however, it is the first time that they participate representing the Institution, which means for them the beginning of an important university sports career.
