Yesterday, Friday, the new edition of the Open Generali Ciudad de Palma del Río 2022 was presented at the Espacio Creativo y Cultural Santa Clara, which will be held from June 26 to July 3 in the city of Cordoba. For the second consecutive year, the ITF Women’s International Tournament will be held, which will distribute $25,000 in prizes and which for the first time includes the so-called Hospitality for the participants.

The presentation ceremony was attended by the mayor of Palma del Río, Esperanza Caro de la Barrera; the territorial delegate of Education and Sports in Córdoba of the Board of
Andalusia, Inmaculada Troncoso García; the delegate of Culture of the Diputación de Córdoba, Salud Navajas González and the southeast territorial director of Generali, Sira del Cerro, who highlighted the importance of supporting this tournament through “the support of sport as a philosophy of prevention and improvement of health” , in addition to “the visibility of the female talent of these players and that they are an example for many others”.

For her part, the territorial delegate for Education and Sports in Córdoba, Inmaculada Troncoso, outlined “the work of launching an international women’s tournament,
thus helping to eliminate the barrier of some athletes who leave the sport at a very young age”.

Salud Navajas González, delegate of Culture of the Provincial Government of Córdoba, stated three fundamental pillars that have led this tournament to reach a great dimension: “the association of tennis players from Palma, the attending and massive public and, finally, the collaboration and support from institutions and sponsors”.

Likewise, the director of the tournament, Miguel Caro Velasco, took a tour through the time of this sporting event, which, in addition, in this 2022 is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and presented the players who will play as seeded in this encounter.

To conclude, the mayor, Esperanza Caro de la Barrera, thanked all the collaborators and public institutions for their support of such an event. But, above all, to the Palma Tennis Players Association: “you have amply demonstrated that you know how to do things and you know how to make the rest of us enjoy, 25 years, almost nothing. Once again Palma del Río is on the map through elite sport”.
