Peru | Badminton delivers three gold medals to the Peruvian team at the Valledupar 2022 Bolivarian Games | RMMD | SPORTS

Huge start to the day for Peru at the Valledupar 2022 Bolivarian Games. This Wednesday, the national team swept badminton. Inés Castillo, in women’s singles and doubles (in the company of Paula La Torre), and Diego Mini and José Guevara, in men’s doubles, won their respective matches to obtain new gold medals.

In the first instance, Castillo Salazar faced María Pérez in the definition. Our compatriot starred in a tough contest against the native of Colombia, host of the contest. Despite having the public against her, Inés won the first set by 21 to 11 and closed with a tight 21 to 19. In this way, the gold medal number 12 arrived for the red and white team.

Then, there was a completely Peruvian crossing in the grand final of the men’s doubles. Diego Mini and José Guevara collided with Daniel La Torre and Diego Subauste. The victory went to the first duo (Mini-Guevara) with partials of 21-16 and 21-10. Thus, Peru reached the thirteenth gold medal throughout the tournament.

Meanwhile, La Torre and Subuaste will hang the silver medal for being in second place in the match against their countrymen. So far, the representatives of our country have climbed to the second step of the podium 14 times.

Finally, Inés Castillo returned to action accompanied by Paula La Torre. Both were measured in the clash for the gold against the Peruvians Fernanda Saponara and Namie Miyahira. The duo made up of Castillo and La Torre took first place with a 2-1 win with runs of 16-21, 21-18 and 21-17.

Thus, Peru began the day on Wednesday June 29 with three gold medals and 14 on the general board. Likewise, there is a total of 15 silver, considering the ones that Saponara and Miyahira hung.

It is worth mentioning that last Sunday, Peru won a gold medal in badminton in the mixed team competition.
