Meanwhile, basketball player Artūrs Kalnītis writes on Twitter that Kurucs will try to prove himself in the National Basketball Association (NBA) Summer League this summer.

Kurucs “Partizan” joined the ranks last July with a two-year contract. However, he failed to gain the trust of Žeļko Obradovičs and the Latvian has not played since the beginning of March.

In the Adriatic League, Kurucs scored an average of 4.9 points in 14 matches, won 2.1 rebounds, gave 2.0 assists and intercepted 1.0 balls. He averaged 3.1 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.9 interceptions in nine fights in the ULEB Eurocup.

From 2012 to 2015, Kurucs was in the “VEF Rīga” system, but then for three years he was under the auspices of the Spanish club “Barcelona”, also playing in the club’s second team in the lower leagues.

In 2018, in the Barcelona team, the basketball player won the Spanish Cup.

In the summer of 2018, Brooklyn’s “Nets” was chosen as the 40th representative of Latvia in the NBA draft. After two seasons on the Brooklyn team, Kuruc was replaced by the Houston Rockets in January 2021 and the Milwaukee Bucks in March, from which Kuruc was released in the first half of May.

In a total of 131 games in the world’s strongest league, Kurucs played an average of 16 minutes in a match, during which he scored six points and won 3.1 rebounds.

In 2014, Kurucs became the European Cadet Vice-Champion with the Latvian U-16 national team, but in November 2017, he made his debut in the Latvian national team, participating in the 2019 World Cup qualifiers.
