The choice of the basketball site is the subject of strong criticism from the players of the France team, a movement initiated by Evan Fournier at the end of March. But since the outbreak of this controversy, basketball has not yet officially found its base, the latest trend being to play the qualifying phases in Lille. The discussions between the Cojo, the international basketball federation and the IOC (International Olympic Committee) are bitter on this subject, the final decision resting with the IOC, according to the organizing committee.
