Pablo Abián revalidates the gold in badminton at the Mediterranean Games

The Aragonese Paul Abian revalidated this Thursday the gold in the Mediterranean Games of Oran by winning in badminton, in the individual modality, against the also Spanish Kike Peñalver (21-13 and 22-20) who takes the silver.

Abián and Peñalver were precisely runners-up in men’s doubles last Monday in these same games that are held in neighboring Algeria.

With this podium, Spain adds two gold medals after the judoka, Francisco Garrigós, was proclaimed champion in the final of -60 kilos against the Tunisian Fraj Dhouibi on Wednesday.

So far Spain, which hosted the last edition of 2018 in Tarragona, has 17 distinctions (7 silver and 8 bronze) in a classification led by Turkey, Italy and Algeria.

For Abián it is the fourth medal in a Mediterranean Games, after the silver of Mersin 2013, the gold of Tarragona 2018 and the silver of the current ones of Oran 2022.
