Opening of the DEM – German Judo Federation

The SteppiTunes from the Judo Team Steinheim showed a cheerful and sporty-musical performance at the opening of the German Championships. Synchronous judo performances and subsequent musical interludes combined sport and music. The national anthem was also played by the young musicians-judoka.

The deputy head of the Office for Sport and Exercise of the City of Stuttgart welcomed the judoka from all over Germany. “I look forward to the German Championships and working with judo every year,” she says in her welcome speech.

DJB President Thomas Schynol also extends a warm welcome to all participants and guests. “I am happy that we can finally be here again without PCR tests and I am now looking forward to the men’s competitions after the first women’s decisions.” He thanks the Württemberg Judo Association (WJV) for the great organization of the championships .

Martin Bobert, President of the WJV, also welcomed and thanked the city of Stuttgart for the 5-year support in holding the championships. For him, too, it is significant “that we can experience this event as normal.”

In his speech, he asked for a minute’s silence to commemorate the former judge’s advisor and long-time vice-president Günther Roller.

He also awarded two judoka the Young Talent Prize 2022. The award was given to Valentin Fleischle from JT Steinheim with his trainer Trixi Kästle and Helen Möck from KSV Esslingen.

Then the preliminary fights began in the men -73 kg, -81 kg and -90 kg.
