OSIMO – The Mobile radio operating unit from Osimo scores another heavy blow against gangs of thugs who trick and rob the elderly. Friday night they have arrested four women between 46 and 52 years of age, all of Roma origin and residing in Teramo, and all with precedents, for a theft in an apartment.
The blitz was carried out in Civitanova Marche, where the military coordinated by the commander of the Osimo Company, Major Luigi Ciccarelli, were following from afar, in order not to be noticed, a gray Mercedes A-Class that had been reported to Osimo for some suspicious movements.
The investigations
For days the carabinieri had been receiving phone calls from citizens of Valmusone due to the presence of a dark-haired woman who asked for strange information by knocking on the doors of various houses. In some cases, even managing to enter with an excuse, such as looking for an apartment to rent or buy, and then, with the complicity of other women, they would have taken away jewels and gold jewelry. So it was reported for example in Loreto but also in Civitanova, where on Friday on social media they told of a woman with glasses and dark hair who, saying she was from Pesaro, asked for information about a house to rent in August. The same carabinieri from Osimo were following the movements of the Mercedes at a safe distance, to understand if it really was a gang of thieves. And the intuition had been right, because the military saw the car stopped along the main street of Civitanova and shortly after two women come out of a building and quickly run away with the Mercedes. The result was a short pursuit of a few kilometers that ended along the Adriatica state road, on the outskirts of Civitanova, where the Carabinieri of Norm di Osimo, helped by colleagues from the local station, managed to stop the Mercedes and carry out the search.
On board were four women of 52, 50, 48 and 46 years, the latter pregnant, even quite advanced considering the well visible baby bump. She apparently she would have been pregnant for at least 6 months and her presence was very useful to the gang of thieves to trick the victims and pass as apparently harmless. This had happened a little earlier in the building along the Corso di Civitanova, where an elderly woman had let in the thieves who had convinced her to open a house to rent in that building with the excuse of. Once inside her, however, they had managed to entertain the old woman and at the same time steal her jewels and cash, then found on the Mercedes and immediately returned to the victim who also recognized her.
The provision
The four thieves were then arrested red-handed and taken to the Osimo barracks in the late evening for the necessary procedures. Pending the validation hearing at the Court of Macerata, the four ended up under house arrest and brought back to their respective residences in Teramo. In the meantime, the carabinieri are deepening their investigations to understand whether to charge the same gang for the reports received in recent days in Valmusone. Thefts and attempted thefts that would add up to the one committed and discovered red-handed Friday evening in Civitanova.
