Nine medals for Badminton Xàtiva in the TTR tournament in Manises

The Xàtiva Badminton Club returned from the Top TTR tournament in Manises for the lower categories (under-11, under-13, under-17, under-19) with 9 medals: two golds, four silvers and three bronzes. The best results were given in the sub-17 and sub-19 categories, where athletes from Setabense concentrated the first positions. In the under-17s, Andrea Orquín won gold in the women’s singles, after beating Belén Guardiola from Alicante 21-19, 13-21 and 21-15 in the final, in a match that lasted 44 minutes and in which the one from Xàtiva was very solid in their game. In women’s doubles, Andrea participated in the sub-19 category, despite still being sub-17, and she did so together with Sara Sáez (from CB Drop València), winning the silver medal after losing in the final to Inés Sánchez and Belén Guardiola, by 21-14, 15-21 and 21-13.

In the men’s sub-17 section, the brothers Marcos and Jesús Cimas shared third place and a bronze medal, after losing in the semifinals. The first fell to Miguel Paya 21-19, 18-21 and 21-16; while Jesús lost to Mateo Fernández 21-13 and 21-11. In the men’s doubles, the Cimas brothers took the silver after losing in the final to the two rivals with whom they met in the individual, by a result of 16-21, 21-9 and 21-17 in favor of the Alicante .

In the sub-19 category, the men’s individual was decided between two Setabenses. Hugo Medina and David Polop faced each other in the decisive match, with victory for Hugo, who thus took the gold, and silver for David. Hugo entered the final as number one seed, while David arrived after beating his clubmate Vicent Molina in the group stage, who returned to compete in singles in the absence of Maria Sanz for doubles. In the semifinals, David beat Quique Gil 14-21, 21-12 and 21-18, in a match in which the player from Setab turned the score around after losing the first set. In individual he also competed for CB Xàtiva Jaume Tur, he did not get a place for the final phase.

In the under-19 men’s doubles, David Polop and Vicent Molina won the silver after losing in the final to Ginés Vallés and José Ferrer, who dropped in the semifinals the other couple from the Xàtiva club that was competing, the one formed by Jaume Tur and Hugo Medina, who took the bronze medal. In addition, Xàtiva Badminton also participated in the Manises Arnau Bataller tournament, in the sub-13 category; and Xavi Roca, in sub-15.

Spain Championship

On the other hand, the Xàtiva Badminton Club is represented in the Spanish Championship of Regional Teams which is celebrated from today until next Sunday in Santander. The club athlete participates in the national tournament Jesus Peaks, which is part of the Valencian national team in the sub-15 and sub-17 categories. The player from Setabense was summoned by the regional team and since yesterday he has been in Santander together with the rest of the members of the national team to play in the national championship.
