San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who underwent offseason shoulder surgery, is recovering well and should start throwing balls again in the coming weeks if he gets the all-clear from doctors, reports the ESPN network.
Once that is the case, the market for transactions is likely to activate for Garoppolo.
Trey Lance played as the 49ers’ No. 1 quarterback during offseason practices, while Garoppolo spent most of his offseason rehabbing in Southern California.
Garoppolo was excused from the team’s mandatory mini-camp in early June after not participating in the team’s conditioning program during the offseason.
He is entering the final season of his contract and his salary should count for $26.95 million in the Niners’ 2022 payroll.
