Newell’s beat Argentinos in the Colossus and was the only pointer in the tournament

Newell’s beat Argentinos Juniors 1-0 this Monday at the Coloso Marcelo Bielsa, for the fourth date of the Professional League, and remained the only leader of the contest. The red and black team quickly took the lead with a goal from Willer Ditta, managed to neutralize Bicho’s offensive game and with a lot of dedication and skill built a very important victory against a difficult rival.

La Lepra struck from the start and took the lead 6 minutes into the first half. After a corner kick executed by Ramiro Sordo, Paraguayan Gustavo Velázquez headed the ball down and Ditta deflected it to convert his first goal with the red and black shirt.

A while before, he had had another clear option after a play that left Francisco González with the possibility of a free shot on goal inside the area, but the end defined badly and hit him bitten.

Coach Javier Sanguinetti changed his tactical drawing especially to receive Bicho, who had beaten him categorically in the duel of the last League Cup. He decided to play with three central defenders, two wingers-wingers and two holding midfielders to close spaces for him inside and force him to try to attack on the wings.

And the formula gave him good results in some passages of the game, especially after taking the lead so quickly. However, as the minutes passed, the Leprosy was staying and Argentinos, in the first stage, began to handle the ball and play their game, with a lot of touch and mobility from three quarters onwards.

The problem was that Argentinos grew and the red and black team got dangerously further back and closer to goalkeeper Ramiro Macagno. Thus, Gabriel Milito’s men prowled the area and Leprosy committed many fouls in a delicate area. In this way, from a free kick, Carabajal was very close to getting the tie with a shot that went just wide.

In the complement, the positions of both teams did not change. Argentinos continued to control the ball and Newell’s waited in their field. However, it was difficult for Bicho to open spaces and clearly reach Macagno’s goal. And in that format, Leprosy began to feel more and more comfortable, closing the paths and well planted. That’s why he almost didn’t jump.

With 15 minutes to go, Newell’s had a chance to kill him on a counterattack, but striker Juan Garro’s shot went into the hands of the rival goalkeeper. Later, El Bicho had the clearest chance to tie with a great shot by Fausto Vera that Macagno covered very well.

The kid Genaro Rossi scored two goals, but on both occasions they were in an advanced position and the suffering in the Colossus extended until the final whistle.

La Leprosy ended up justifying the victory based on excellent defensive work by the entire team, with three impassable defenders who were always confident, Méndez and Vangioni deployed on the flanks, and an admirable collective dedication. To the claw he added the effectiveness to open the scoring quickly and the opportunism of Ditta.

Thus, Newell’s achieved its first win at the Colossus in this tournament, reaffirming the good start and continues well up in the table. The only one who can reach it on this date is Plantense, who plays this Tuesday with Aldosivi.
