NBA DRAFT 2022: Surprise in the NBA Draft: Paolo Banchero takes the number 1 from Jabari Smith

Soppressed in the 2022 NBA Draft with the choice of Paolo Banchero with the number 1 by the Orlando Magic at a gala held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

The Oklahoma City Thunder selected Chet Holmgren (Gonzaga) with the number 2 and the Houston Rockets bet on Jabari Smith Jr. (Auburn)who was the favorite to be number 1, with number 3.

Paolo Banchero: “I didn’t find out that the Magic were going to pick me until about 20 seconds before”

“I didn’t find out the Orlando Magic was going to pick me until about 20 seconds before the commissioner went on stage. I didn’t even have time to really think about it or anything. It just happened. I can’t believe it, but I’m ready. I’m ready. ready,” Banchero told ESPN.

Paolo Banchero is a 19-year-old forward and 2.08 m. that this season he has averaged 17.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists this season in the NCAA playing for Duke.

With the arrival of Banchero, the Orlando Magic become one of the teams with the most future in the NBA. The Duke forward is joined in Florida by Jalen Suggs, Cole Anthony, Franz Wagner, Jonathan Isaac and Wendell Carter Jr.

The ‘unicorn’ Chet Holmgren, number 2 selected by Thunder

The Thunder selected three players in the first round.
