Naomi Pozo wants to go to the Judo World Cup – Lights of the Century

HERMOSILLO, SONORA.- Quintana Roo judoka Iliana Naomi Pozo has defined her next challenge, after becoming national champion in the Under-21 category, division of -63 kilograms, after her participation in the National Games CONADE 2022, which take place in Hermosillo, Sonora.

“I am very happy, it is the first time that I compete in 63 kilos, last year I also won first place but in 57, so I feel very happy, I feel happy to be able to raise the name of Quintana Roo. In August there is a Junior World Cup and I hope to be called to participate,” said the Cancun native, who now has her sights set on the next Junior World Cup for the specialty, which will take place from August 10 to 14 in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

On the last day of competitions, Pozo Flores made it clear that she is up for big things, after beating Dana Lomelí from Jalisco in the Grand Final of her category.

After eight years of practicing this sport, the next challenge for Naomi Pozo will be to win a medal as a national team player.

“I have previously participated in a Pan-American event in Guadalajara, it did not go very well for me but I think that to be my first international event, I did well, since it is very different from a national event, because of the competitors and the organization and also because it was the first event after the pandemic, so they were in another type of protocol and right now for the World Cup I already feel more prepared and ready to take that step, ”he commented.

“Representing Mexico is something that makes me very happy and proud, since what excited me the most when I was little is that they give us a patch that says our name and says Mexico and it feels nice to have it and represent Mexico and I am delighted. to attend each call”, he added.
