My Hero Academia Season 6 OVAs Get Global Release Dates

My Hero Academia may currently be gearing up for its return with Season 6 later this fall, but the anime has revealed release dates for a new set of OVA specials for fans to experience this summer before the anime’s full return. animate! The anime will return with the most intense arc to reach the adaptation yet, but thankfully it has much lighter plans for the summer. With the first of these new specials now airing in Japan, fans in other territories have started wondering when they can check out these specials for themselves.

my hero academia took the stage with a new special event highlighting some of the future of anime, and with it officially announced that the two new OVA specials currently screened in Japan will be released in the rest of the world starting August 1. (as spotted by @AIR_News01 on Twitter). Fans attending Anime Expo will be able to experience the first of these new offerings much sooner than that as part of Crunchyroll’s offerings for the convention, but luckily it won’t be much longer for everyone.

Crunchyroll officially describes the first of My Hero Academia new OVAs, titled “HLB”, as such, “HLB stands for ‘Hero League of Baseball’ – it’s a baseball league founded by pro-heroes who love baseball! It’s game day! The final HLB Championship match is between Gang Orca and the two rival Shishido agencies. They form a team (“Orcas” and “Lionels”) to compete against each other. In the world of HLB, there are no rules – using their whims is of course accepted. However, just as the game is about to end, they are interrupted by a villain. Who will be the winner of HLB!?”

A synopsis for the second OVA titled “Laugh! As if you were in hell!” has yet to be revealed, but it has been confirmed that it will introduce a new villain to the series named Mr. Smiley. He will be voiced by Hironori Kondo (who can be heard in various Super Sentai projects such as Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger) upon its debut, thankfully, it has been confirmed that it won’t be long before fans outside of Japan can see one of these new OVA specials.

my hero academia will also be back in October with Season 6 as part of the Fall 2022 anime schedule, but has yet to confirm a concrete release date as of this writing.
