Mikel Mujika (Telco.m) was proclaimed champion of Gipuzkoa against the clock this Tuesday in Aizarnazabal, beating Haimar Etxeberria (Caja Rural) and Aitor Agirre (Laboral Kutxa) at the Gervais Memorial, a positive surprise in the race. As there was only one elite in the running, Mujika from Legazpiarra, a single open classification was established, with no distinction between the two categories. The same thing happened in women, where the sub-23 Xubane Garai (Laboral Kutxa) won and the elite Eneritz Urrutia (Bolintxo Okindegia) and the also sub-23 Naya Mangas (Zatika) completed the podium. The third in this category, Asier Azkarate (Eulen-Nuuk) and Lur Zufiria (Zatika), were left without a podium.

13 cyclists took part in the Gervais Memorial, nine women competed between elite, sub-23 and juniors and there were 15 junior runners. For the first time, the adapted Gipuzkoa Championship was played.

clear victory

Mikel Mujika won with authority. He led Etxeberria by 41 seconds, which shows the clarity of his victory. Aitor Agirre, who completed a very good performance, was third, one minute behind Legazpiarra.

Born in 1998, Mujika is in his second season as an elite and the results are accompanying him, with several top-10s. After not reaching professionalism from the Caja Rural subsidiary, the former Eibar cyclist seems to have found his level by freeing himself from that pressure. In women, Xubane Garai’s dominance was also very clear.
