Martinek is going to fight in Poland, a 120-kilo “Tank” is waiting for him there.

The best Czech heavyweight of today, Michal “Blackbeard” Martínek, will combine his career with the Polish MMA organization KSW. Historically, the first Octagon champion, after leaving the Russian ACA, is going out into the world again and plans to stir up the waters of a leading European organization. It will have its premiere on June 18 against the home team Filip Stawovy, whom the fans call the “Tank”.

The 25-year-old Pole is well on his way so far, he has lost only 2 out of 11 matches and finished 8 opponents before the limit. However, it must be added that he has not faced by far the best ones yet and it will also be a premiere for him in KSW. According to bookmakers, Michal is also a favorite. He himself expects the opponent to want to appear in front of the home audience in a good light, so together they will show a good match.

No wonder “Blackbeard” has much harder rivals in his biography and in the past he also attracted the attention of the UFC, which invited him to the show Dana White’s Contender Series, where, however, he did not win the contract. In the match with the Brazilian Nascimento, he was not in his element, he fought injuries and the pressure of the surroundings and unfortunately he lost in the first round on the submission.

However, the first defeat in his professional career did not deprive Martínek of the status of a Czech star, and at the Oktagon 15 tournament, which was dominated by “Match of the Century”, he managed to finish Viktor Pest in the first round, which earned him the championship belt. However, the Czech-Slovak pond was small for the former hockey defender, so he set out to look for bigger challenges in the world. He landed in the Russian organization ACA, where he premiered in October 2020. In the opening duel, he lost to the American giant Daniel James. However, he showed a great match and made up for the defeat six months later, when he scored the Lithuanian Tomas Pakutinskas. However, the path to the title was marred by a controversial defeat with Denis Smoldarev, which was affected by an illegal blow to the head.

“ACA is such a wrestler Valhala and it was a big shift in my career. I really appreciated getting the main pre-match. Unfortunately, the match lasted 35 seconds. I had a life preparation behind me, and Carlos Vémola also said that he was sorry that I could not show what I had trained, “ Martínek revealed in the FightCast podcast and at the same time indicated that he would like to be retaliated in the future.

However, due to the Russian aggression in Ukraine, there will be nothing in retaliation. Blackbeard does not want to fight in an organization whose home state has started a war, so he has terminated his contract with the ACA. Fortunately, the Russian owners understand Martínek’s reasons and let the Czech warrior leave. “We were surprised at how calm it went. We told them some of our point of view that it’s nothing against them as an association, but in the context of what’s going on, I don’t want to deal with any flights and so on. There are many things that have decided beyond the conflict itself. I was immediately clear about that, as I mentioned in the past. “ Martínek explained in an interview for iSport.cz.

Among other things, the game included a return to the Octagon and the opportunity to fight in the new Czech organization RFA. However, the desire for further foreign experience eventually won out and Michal signed a multi-match contract with KSW. “Oktagon offered me more or less the same conditions as KSW for the first match. The RFA offered me the most money, a diametrically higher amount. But I decided purely on the basis of some inner feeling that I enjoyed gathering experience now. As I say, I’ve done something here and I would like to do the same thing outside, as long as I have the taste and strength. “ added in an extensive interview for iSport.cz. The good news is that his contract with KSW allows him one-off matches elsewhere, so we may see him at home in the future.

KSB’s “Blackbeard” premiere is literally knocking on the door. On June 18, Michal will present himself at the KSW 71 tournament in Toruń, Poland, which is dominated by the battle for the lightweight title between Ziolkowski and Rajewski. In our region, it will be possible to watch on voyo.cz or via official pay-per-view transmission.
