Manchester United: Ten Hag does not count on Martial – football

Back following a disappointing loan to FC Sville, Anthony Martial was no doubt hoping to revive Manchester United. But the French striker is not in the plans of new manager Erik ten Hag.

Anthony Martial comes off a disappointing loan to FC Sville.

A goal and a decisive assist in 12 games in all competitions, that’s the sad record of Anthony Martial following his loan to FC Sville last January.

It is true that the Frenchman was slowed down by injuries. But his performance did not satisfy coach Julen Lopetegui.

Martial pushed out

Unsurprisingly, the Andalusian club did not insist on keeping him. And that’s not the only bad news of the summer for the 26-year-old striker.

Indeed, Manchester United will not retain him either. The Premier League resident should even push him out, warns The Athletic. The Mancunian management has a budget of around 140 million euros for its transfer window. But the club would like to increase this envelope thanks to the sales of Martial and right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, both absent from the plans of new manager Erik ten Hag.

The French rating has dropped

It is however difficult to imagine the Red Devils making a big transfer thanks to the former Mongasque, under contract until 2024. Martial had already lost the thread of his career long before his loan to Sville. Suddenly, the clubs possibly interested will surely try to obtain a new loan without taking too risky a bet. The initiative could come from French teams, Marseille and Lyon, its training club, having already been the subject of rumors on this track in recent months.
