These statements should definitely not be made public…
Richard Arnold (51), CEO of Manchester United, spoke very openly about the club in a beer garden.
In front of a few guests, he complained about the past season. What he didn’t know: one of the participants filmed him doing it! Now the video has landed on social media…

Arnold scolds: “We burned a hell of a lot of money. We spent £1 billion (€1.15 billion) on players, we spent more than anyone in Europe.”
Then he became really clear. United missed out on the Champions League ranks in 6th place. “I’m not thrilled with where we are, it’s not easy and we need to get a handle on it. The last year has been a bloody nightmare. I hated every minute of it,” said the United boss.
He amazed EVERYONE!

Arnold continued: “You can’t go to our training ground and say, ‘Show me where the billion pound is’. I don’t think we’ve managed well with the money we’ve spent in the past. We blew an enormous amount of money.”
Arnold took over the post on February 1 of this year from Ed Woodward, who resigned after failing to play in the Super League.
The boss announced in the pub that a lot of money could be spent in the summer to put together a good squad for new coach Erik ten Hag (52).
“This summer the money that the manager and the director of football need is there. For the future, for investments in a new stadium and things like that, for a £250m training ground, we have to do something, we have to find investors.”
Arnold concludes: “I need this to do what I want for the club, I need to have more money than I do now. No club in the world has the money to build a new stadium without getting it from someone. Either you borrow it or someone invests it.”
