Striker top Uruguay Luis Suarez reject comparisons with Liverpool’s new signings Darwin Nunez. Suarez also claimed to have recommended Nunez to Barcelona.

The Reds recently brought Darwin Nunez from Benfica with a transfer value that could reach 100 million euros. Following Nunez’s sensational performance after scoring 34 goals in 41 matches throughout 2021/2022.

Nunez has agreed to a Liverpool contract for six years or until 2028. The 22-year-old striker was then compared to former Liverpool star Luis Suarez because both are from Uruguay.

Suarez himself successfully contributed 82 goals plus 46 assists for Liverpool over four seasons. The gunman scored 31 goals in the 2013/14 Premier League to become the top scorer, while winning the PFA and FWA Player of the Year awards. In addition, Suarez also played a central role in the Reds’ success in finishing runners-up in the Premier League, which marked their best achievement in five seasons.

Luis Suarez is looking for a new club after being released by Atletico Madrid. Suarez supports Darwin Nunez for success at Liverpool. “He [Nunez] will write his own story in Liverpool.

He’s Uruguayan and he’s a striker, but that’s where the comparisons stop. He is a special player and does not need to be compared to anyone,” he told Mirror.

“I can offer him advice about England and about the style of play there, but I don’t think he needs it. He will let his talent speak,” continued the 35-year-old striker.

Darwin Nunez spent one season with LaLiga club Almeria in 2019/20, scoring 16 goals. Suarez later revealed that he recommended his compatriot to Barcelona but was turned down.

“It was only last season when Europe started paying attention to him because of his performances for Benfica. But before I could see there was something special in him. When he was still at Almeria, I recommended him to Barcelona but that’s something that never happened,” Luis said. Suarez added about Darwin Nunez.
