Lucien Favre, tipped to succeed Christophe Galtier, arrives in Nice

He was expected to take over from Christophe Galtier as coach of OGC Nice. Between 2016 and 2018, the new strongman of the Riviera club had already held this position.

He landed in Nice this Saturday, around noon, before being welcomed by club president Jean-Pierre Rivière.

According to our information, the Swiss Lucien Favre will take the place of Christophe Galtier, who has just been chosen to train the players of Paris Saint Germain. The Nice club should officially present its new coach on Monday.

With a reputation as a builder and unifier, Lucien Favre left the Nice club four years ago. After a stint at Borussia Dortmund from 2018 to 2020, the Swiss was already expected to take over from his counterpart Christophe Galtier.

When he coached the players of OGC Nice, Lucien Favre first completed a promising season. Under his wing, the Riviera club had finished in third position. The second year in Nice had been less conclusive. Tensions between Favre and Fournier had arisen and the club had finished in 8th position in the standings.
