Loudeac. The first blade of the future covered velodrome track has been laid. Sport

Prefect, representatives of the Region, the Department, National Education, Loudéac Community Center Brittany (LCBC), architects, or even managers of national and regional cycling authorities were welcomed on Tuesday June 28, 2022 by Xavier Hamon, President of LCBC, on the site of the future velodrome of Brittany, in Loudéac (Cotes-d’Armor).

A tool for promoting cycling in Brittany

The guests discovered the progress of the work. The group also attended the laying of the first blade of the wooden track, which will measure 200 m. “This achievement will be a tool for promoting cycling in the heart of our region”said Xavier Hamon.

The various speakers went in the same direction, also emphasizing that this velodrome will be able to accommodate, in the central area, other sports such as badminton, basketball, fencing or gymnastics, even to allow the organization of events.

Preparation center for the Paris 2024 Olympics

The equipment will also be made available to schoolchildren in the area concerned by the cycling plan, with the organization of learning sessions as well as the hosting of actions to promote road safety.

With Alexandre Léauté and Audrey Cordon-Ragot, two Loudéacian champions, as godfather and godmother, and the Brittany cycling committee as partner, the velodrome will be one of the five preparation centers selected for the track cycling competitions in the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
