The forward of La Unión de Colón has been a key player in the wonderful season of the team from Entre Ríos. After the feat in San Luis, those led by Gustavino now go for the title in the National Final.
Cesar Lavoratornuovo, with his 30 years, decided to leave his comfort zone, Atenas de Patagones, to wear the red and white. Maragato arrived at La Unión de Colón to play in the 2022 Federal League. At the end of the Regular Phase, a media outlet from Entre Ríos named him the “Best Small Forward in the Entre Ríos Zone”, being a key part of the team during the competition. Last Saturday, el Rojo continued to write history, this time in San Luis in a series of Finals where nothing was easy. After the feat, we talked with him.
How did you live with the team the process that led them to get promoted?
-The truth is that I had a great time, it was an incredible season. A very competitive team was put together with good people and that was reflected on the pitch. We showed that we were the best in the area from start to finish.
Knowing that it was your first experience outside of Athens, when a player refers to the things he leaves behind to play abroad, what is he talking about?
-Leaving the club of my whole life was hard because I always miss it. Then family, friends, my nieces, Juan Martín and my pets obviously. That is what we are talking about when we refer to what is left, what is missed.
What value does this promotion have in your career?
-It has a very important value because it was the first time that I defended another shirt and everything was very nice. We always showed our faces everywhere and we rounded it off by going up on the road and winning two incredible games knowing that we had lost the first game at home.
How do you prepare for the last series?
-I prepare the same as all the playoffs, confident that things will go well for us and we can round off a beautiful season.
Finally, it is the last home game, what balance can you make and what do you think you could not forget to say?
-It seems strange to me that it is the last one because a few months ago we were just getting to know each other, and now we are playing the final to see if we can be the best of the 102 teams that participated. Everything was crazy but I will never forget it.
