The best result was achieved by Australian Zek Stabletijs-Cook, for whom Bobrov lost 4.97 seconds. The 16 fastest swimmers will continue in the semifinals.
Meanwhile, Maluka finished in the freestyle in the 100-meter distance after 56.46 seconds.
In total, 63 athletes went to the start, 16 of which were better qualifiers for the semi-finals.
Molly O’Kalahane from Australia swam the fastest in the pre-race in the 100-meter freestyle, covering the distance in 53.49 seconds. Maluka was 2.97 seconds behind.
Latvia is represented at the World Championship by four swimmers – Maluka, Gabriela Nikitina, Ģirts Feldbergs and Bobrov. Latvian athletes have also applied for participation in the 4 × 100 meter combined and 4 × 100 meter freestyle relays for mixed teams.
The World Water Sports Championship will run until July 3.
