La Gea and Gek Galanda join forces, a new summer camp with many new features

GROSSETO – From Monday 20 to Saturday 25 June, the appointment with the Gek Galanda Camp is renewed in Marina di Grosseto, now in its third edition, one of the most important clinics in Italy for quality and quantity of participating athletes. Young basketball fans will be able to try a unique experience between nature and sport together with professional coaches and players, who will improve the technical background of the members. The organization, the Italian Basketball World (which as always makes use of the collaboration of Gea Basketball Grosseto and Debora D’Agostino), has also prepared two formulas this season: full camp with overnight stay at Camping Cieloverde (and meals at Bagno Giglio, at the Porto Via restaurant and at the Braceria), and the Day camp for those who want to follow the lessons from 9 to 18 and then go home.
Camp 2022 was presented yesterday morning in the Giglio bathroom by Giacomo Galanda in the presence of the mayor of Grosseto Antonfrancesco Vivarelli Colonna, the councilor for sport Fabrizio Rossi and the Gea Basketball coach Marco Santolamazza and Marco Romboli.

“We are proud to be able to host this initiative again in Marina di Grosseto, which will allow our young basketball fans to experience this beautiful sport with the guidance of professional players and experts in the sector – declare the mayor of Grosseto Antonfrancesco Vivarelli Colonna and the councilor for Sport Fabrizio Rossi – it is certainly a great project and an opportunity to enhance and make known the infinite qualities of our young people ”.
“It is a great pleasure – says Giacomo“ Gek ”Galanda, creator and soul of this camp – to return to a location as beautiful as Cieloverde and to make it known throughout Italy. Being our association born in Tuscany, in all this there is also a strong sense of belonging, both personally and for the medalists I carry with me. The fact that I collaborate with Alessandra Sensini fills me with joy: it reminds me of our Olympics, starting with Athens 2004. We were athletes and young people. I’m happy to have you again by my side ”.
“Compared to the other editions – adds Galanda – thanks to the easing of the pandemic we will experience the Maremma more, in particular the town of Marina di Grosseto, which is very beautiful in the evening. The children will be taken to eat in various restaurants to taste the typical specialties and to be among the people “.

The playing fields have been prepared in front of Bagno Giglio and, as a novelty, in the square of the former San Rocco colony, thanks to the collaboration of the Water World of Alessandra Sensini and Manuel Giannerini, concessionaire of the area, which among other things offered two exits with surfing to the participants.
The Full Camp has reached the maximum number of registrations for weeks and is sold out; while there is still a few places for Day Camp.
The participating children will be followed by technicians and players with important backgrounds. Giacomo Galanda, the creator and soul of the camp, won silver in Athens 2004 and gold in Paris 1999, as well as the championship with Varese, Bologna and Siena. Galanda will be joined by Marco Battisti, Reyer Venezia’s technical historian. There will also be Edwin Mora, coach in the Liga superior de baloncesto de Costa Rica; Rodolfo Fonseca, who starting from the University of Costa Rica has built a brilliant career spanning almost forty years, in which he collaborated with the NBA, NCAA and the Michael Jordan Flight School; Luca Andreoli, head coach of Le Mura Lucca, revelation team of the A1 Women’s series. Coach Delkapic Bojan arrives directly from Partizan in Belgrade. The “Galanda Camp” will also make use of the collaboration of Diletta Nerini, captain of the Ponte Buggianese of the women’s A2 series, Simone Lilli, Luca Faragli, Giovanni Porri, Paola Barrese and two technicians from Affrico Firenze, a company that celebrates 100 years of life. Absent at the last moment Massimo Bulleri, who has signed in France.

Paolo Sicignano, among other things, participated in the presentation of the event.
On June 23 there will also be a lesson by the Space Jumpers who will teach the techniques to improve their jump and fly like them and in the evening they will give a show open to all on the Marina promenade.
