Upcoming SBS drama “Today’s Webtoon” has shared photos from the drama’s script reading!
“Today’s Webtoon” is a Korean remake of the popular 2016 Japanese drama “Sleepeeer Hit!” The drama will tell the story of On Ma Eum, a former judo athlete who joins Neon Webtoon’s editorial department as a new employee and struggles to mature into a true webtoon editor amidst Korea’s competitive webtoon industry. At the script reading that took place in April, directors Jo Soo Won and Kim Young Hwan, as well as screenwriters Jo Ye Rang and Lee Jae Eun, were in attendance along with cast members Kim Sejeong, Choi Daniel, Nam Yoon Su, Kim Kap Soo, Park Ho San, Yang Hyun Min |Kang Rae Yeon, Ha Do KwonHa Yul Ri, Ahn Tae Hwan, Son Dongwoon by Highlight, Nam Bora and others. Kim Sejeong will play On Ma Eum, who gives up on her Olympic dreams after sustaining an injury. However, this optimistic woman then sets her sights on webtoons, which have been her source of comfort since she was an athlete. From the beginning, Kim Sejeong portrayed her character in an energetic and lovable manner, making the attendees at the script reading burst into laughter at her playful portrayal.
Choi Daniel will take on the role of Seok Ji Hyung, an unpredictable deputy director who becomes a reliable mentor for On Ma Eum. With his great attention to detail while acting, Choi Daniel impressed people on set and raised anticipation for his return to the small screen.
Nam Yoon Su will play the role of On Ma Eum’s co-worker Goo Joon Young, who enters the company at the same time as her. Furthermore, he boasts an impressive 150 IQ and aspires to be the best of the best. Nam Yoon Su’s performance charmed everyone on set with her flawless transformation into a completely different character.
The cast also shone with their skillful acting and raised anticipation for the upcoming project. Park Ho San plays the chief editor Jang Man Chul, while Ha Do Kwon plays the ambitious Heo Kwan Young, who covets the CEO position of Neon Webtoon. Nam Bora plays the role of Jang Hye Mi, the vice director of Neon Webtoon’s rival company Youngtoon.
Kim Kap Soo plays the carefree writer Baek Eo Jin, who is a legend in the manhwa (Korean comic) industry. Son Dongwoon plays celebrated author Oh Yoon, and Ha Yul Ri plays Neon Webtoon star author Ppommeu, displaying hilarious chemistry with her editor Goo Joon Young.
Kim Sejeong shared, “We got together to practice for the first time, and I was nervous as if we had just started filming. It was so much fun even with just the practice that I think the actual filming set will be 100 times more fun.”

“Today’s Webtoon” will premiere on July 29 at 10 p.m. KST following the conclusion of “Why Her?”.
