Kendrick Nunn logically activates his “player option” and stays at the Lakers

After a failed 2021/22 season, the Lakers have very little certainty about their roster for next season. Because there could be change during the off-season, after a change of coach in the first place.

A first domino has just fallen, and it concerns Kendrick Nunn. ESPN is indeed reporting that the former Miami fullback activated his option for the 2022/23 season, to the tune of 5.2 million dollars. A logical decision for the one who joined the Lakers in the summer of 2021, before experiencing a white season because of a painful right knee throughout the year.

Thus, he secures a contract for next season. ” Knowing that I have just had a blank year, it was obvious for me to activate this option he confessed bluntly.

The Chicago native therefore joins the small circle of (rare?) returning from the Angelino failure last year, alongside LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Austin Reaves and Talen Horton-Tucker, the only Lakers players currently under contract for the 2022/23 financial year.

Russell Westbrook has until June 29 to decide whether or not to activate his “player option”, which amounts to 47.1 million dollars. But difficult to see “Brodie” give up on such a sum, at 33 years old…
