Colorado Rockies and Miami Marlins kicked off their week-opening series this Tuesday, June 21, at LoanDepot Park in South Florida. The locals won with a closed score nine runs for eight.

For the Rockies, eight of their starters hit, only catcher and ninth batter Brian Serven went 0-for-5. Two of the visitors’ 13 hits came off the bat of Jose Iglesias. The Havana native was 2-for-4 with a single, double and RBI. He reached 18 trailers in the campaign.
The first hit, an infield hit, allowed him to open the scoring of the game. While his second of the night was double 15 of the season.
Now Iglesias, 32, has accumulated nine campaigns with at least 15 doubles, all of them consecutively. From 2013 to 2022 he has achieved it except for 2014 when he did not play any game.
Thus, he became the 3rd Cuban shortstop to reach nine, before Bert Campaneris (12) and Leo Cárdenas (9). Candelita is the 19th player born on the Island with the highest number of biangulars in the Major Leagues (205) and among shortstops he is 7th, behind Yuniesky Betancourt, Zoilo Versalles, Alexei Ramírez, Yunel Escobar, Cárdenas and Campaneris.
