Jon Rahm starts a ‘top 10’ in the victory of Horschel in the Memorial

The Memorial, the tournament that Jon Rahm has won 1.5 times, the victory of 2020 and the one that was spoiled after testing positive for Covid last year, ended with minor consolation for Barrika’s. Rahm was 10th in Billy Horschel’s win, unassailable and unashamed on Sunday. The par of the field (72) was enough for him to win the seventh title of his career on the PGA Tour, by three strokes ahead of the American Aaron Wise, with the Chilean Niemann in third position, with the same strokes as Patrick Cantlay, the defending the title (See results)

Horschel always saw himself with a margin of two shots ahead at least, in the absence of six holes, and knew how to manage the rent. After playing two days without bogeys (50 consecutive holes) and coming out with a five-shot advantage, it was unlikely that there would be another result.

The Spanish, while, was sung in the 16 holes tournament finals cradling Jack Nicklaus. After two bogeys at the start, he finally found the hole and five birdies lifted him to that position, which allows him to strengthen his second place in the world.

On a day of fast greenshis 69, along with that of others, was the best Sunday card and Rahm was lucky with the putt (he holed one of seven meters and another of six for birdies on holes 6 and 7), which is good news for the imminent arrival of the US Open, in a couple of weeks.
