Events are accelerating in Lyon. In the fight with three other candidates, John Textor appears in pole position to buy the shares of IDG and Pathé. OL’s share price was suspended on Monday morning at 3.07 euros and a board of directors, initially scheduled for Tuesday, was brought forward in the afternoon.
Ten days ago, Foster Gillett, another American, was favorite to take over the club from Jean-Michel Aulas but he did not provide his guarantees unlike Textor. The owner of RWDM and Botafogo is expected to pay 800 million euros and directly invest 90 million in the summer transfer window. Aulas will remain president of the club.
It remains to be seen now for the people of Brussels whether this acquisition will have negative effects for them.
