SPORTS.- The councilor for Sports, Carlos Alberca, the provincial deputy for the branch, Ángel Vera, the coordinator of the Jaén Basketball Club, Andrián Jiménez, and the president of the Multiple Sclerosis Association of Jaén (Ajdem), Pedro Malagón, presented the fourth edition of the Conference for the Promotion of Basketball, organized by the City Council and the sports entity, with the collaboration of Ajdem, the National Distance Education University and the Andalusian Basketball Federation. This event will bring to the capital the ambassador of the basketball club, the player Asiera de la Iglesia, the best youngster in the Endesa League, Joel Parra, and the person in charge of the equipment of the Spanish Basketball Team, Jonathan de los Ojos. The conference revolves around three activities, a technical conference at the Sports Facilities of La Salobreja and Fuentezuelas, from Monday to Friday from June 24 to July 8, 2022 from 09:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with more of one hundred confirmed participants; the I Gala for the Promotion of Basketball, tomorrow, at 8:00 p.m., in the IFEJA Guadalquivir Hall, and, on Saturday, the 3×3 Championship of the City of Jaén, which will be held on the Esplanade of El Corte Inglés in Jaén from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
In this regard, the Councilor for Sports, Carlos Alberca, has assured: “The City Council is with sports activity in all its facets, in the organization of major events, which in turn promotes sport, since it serves as inspiration, especially everything for the young; in the commitment to the improvement and increase of sports facilities, one of our obsessions, and in the firm support for the clubs, with the sponsorship of our teams, as ambassadors who are the best that the capital has”. Hence, he insisted, the commitment to actions such as the one promoted by the Jaén Club Baloncesto, which are transmitters of positive values, and the collaboration with the entity and its firm commitment to the quarry, combined with the support of all its teams in the different categories.
Along these lines, the Deputy for Sports, Ángel Vera, has emphasized the existing collaboration between local and provincial administrations to promote the practice of sports in all its aspects. In the same way, the head of the club recalled that these conferences are among the activities included in the Club’s Social Action Plan and seek to attract Jaén society in order to bring basketball closer to the City and give visibility to the Multiple Sclerosis and the Jiennense Association, especially through Asier de la Iglesia, who suffers from this ailment. In this regard, the president of (Ajdem) has highlighted the fact that, in his words, “the collaboration that gives rise to these conferences is very exciting, a proposal that offers the opportunity to promote the values that explain to children and girls that society is made up of people with all kinds of abilities and that they are all equally valid.”
