“It’s too beautiful”: the second place of La Parisienne in the Prix de Diane fills those around her

In races, there are happy and disappointed. But a second place sometimes has the value of a victory. The surroundings of The Parisianahead of a short neck for success by the English Nashwa, experienced it in the Prix de Diane this Sunday at Chantilly (Oise). Tears even rolled down the cheeks of Carlos Lerner, the filly’s co-trainer. “Damn… shit! I don’t believe it…”, he says.

And to add: “We have participated in this Group I for three times, and we have not yet managed to win it. I believed in it until the end but I am still delighted. This filly is on the rise. It was his first real race, and his jockey, Gérald Mossé, rode it perfectly. We accept being beaten. It is in any case the best female of 3 years in France (laughter). I am all the more happy that she was brought up by my longtime friend, Pierre Talvard, who advised me to buy her. I am also very proud to share this joy with my son Yann (coentraîneur). »

“I’m starting to realize”

Pierre Talvard, who manages the Haras du Cadran, could not contain his emotions either, shouting with all his might as he passed the post before jumping into the arms of Carlos Lerner. “It’s too beautiful,” he says in a trembling voice. Congratulations to Carlos and Yann Lerner…”

Rémy Dupuy-Naulot, one of the owners of The Parisian, savors the chance he has to own such a filly: “It’s an extraordinary story, knowing that I am a small owner. I have seven horses at present. It was initially under my colors. Before the event, I would have signed to finish in the top three, even if I was confident. I’m starting to realize that I’m second in the Prix de Diane. One thing is certain, I was the one who shouted the loudest during the race in the presentation ring, which can be understood… I thought we were going to win but this second place fills me with happiness. »
