Interview with athlete Mihambo: The long jump favorite – Sport

Before the national title fights in Berlin, long jumper Malaika Mihambo talks about the art of being fully present at championships – and about what still drives her as an Olympic champion.

Malaika Mihambo has an unbeatable advantage over most of the competition, not only in Germany: when she shines in big competitions, her confidence doesn’t melt away, it only swells. At the age of 28, the athlete of the LG Kurpfalz has carried it to almost all the successes that her profession provides, gold at the European Championships, gold at the World Championships, gold at the Olympics, three times athlete of the year. And this despite – or perhaps because – she still seems to have stayed down to earth as a person when everything around her revolves around taking off. These are not bad conditions for the next two months, in which the track and field athletes will be very busy
