Inauguration of phase 1 of the Desrochers Park improvement work in Sainte-Julie

On June 4, the City of Sainte-Julie inaugurated phase 1 of the Desrochers Park improvement work. This first phase aimed to improve facilities for ball sports.

The inauguration was held on June 4, at 4 p.m., at Desrochers Park in collaboration with the Sainte-Julie Amateur Baseball Association. For the occasion, two teams from the city competed against each other. Before the start of the game, a ceremonial throw was made by the Mayor of the City.

“I am proud of the final result of phase 1 of the work at Desrochers Park. Now, the bantam category will be able to play its matches there and the midget and senior categories will be able to hold their practice there. Our objective is to provide quality infrastructure to citizens and we can say that this has been successful with this first phase,” mentioned the mayor of Sainte-Julie, Mario Lemay.

During the work of phase 1, the baseball field was reoriented and enlarged in order to accommodate new categories of players. Player shelters and a scorer’s shelter have been fitted out to improve their comfort. For players wanting to practice their swing, batting cages have been added. The field was also improved by installing a synthetic infield, a scoreboard, natural stone bleachers and LED lighting.

The first phase of this project represents an investment of $1,700,000.
