EL CORREO announced two weeks ago that the former coach of Bilbao Athletic would take the reins of the manufacturing team

Barakaldo continues to take steps forward in preparation for the next course. The factory squad had officially confirmed Joseba Núñez as sports director and a total of twelve first-team players were dropped. They only needed to notify Imanol de la Sota as the new coach, as EL CORREO announced two weeks ago. Well, the gualnegros have decided to do it this Wednesday. Joseba Núñez defines him as «a very prepared coach, young but with a lot of experience and eager to succeed at Barakaldo. His style of play is very offensive, teams with a lot of rhythm, vertical, very fast transitions, rock & roll that will connect very well with what he likes in the Lasesarre stands ».

The Santurtziarra coach has a manufacturing past, since more than twenty years ago he directed the cadets for two campaigns. His career with senior teams began in 2013 at the head of Cultural de Durango, where he managed to sneak into the Third Division play-offs. From that moment on, he decided to link his career to directing teams from lower categories in large structures such as Athletic and Eibar. Mainly, in Lezama he was champion of the División de Honor Juvenil on three occasions and was also the second to Joseba Etxeberria in Basconia. The great step forward was carried out last summer, taking charge of Bilbao Athletic. This is the only stain on his almost unblemished resume, since he ended up being fired in the middle of the season when the team was in relegation.
