Ilias Kamardine loaned to Evreux

He comes out of a very successful season in Espoirs. Semi-finalist of the Future Trophy with the JDA coached by Élise Prodhomme, Ilias Kamardine was named in the five major of the championship (18.6 points, 4.7 assists and 4.5 rebounds for 20.6 evaluation in 30 minutes on average). At only 18 years old.

A category in which he will no longer evolve. “What he needs is to regularly confront a level of intensity and high-level competition, which the Espoirs championship no longer offers him”, explains the Dijon sports director, Fabien Romeyer. “Ilias is linked with us for several more seasons and we hope that he will fully integrate our professional squad in some time. Based on this observation, what is the best development for him? We could have kept him, but we had to play him, we talked about it with Nenad ( Markovic ) and it was complicated to put it on the ground on a regular basis. So the best option was to loan it out. It is an obligatory stage to rub shoulders, in training and in matches, with this rigor, this intensity. Also in relation to the mental aspect of being a pro player. The Pro B is of an excellent level. »

Cooperation between the two parties

It is therefore in Évreux, under the leadership of his coach Neno Asceric, who has the reputation of trusting young people, that the native of Marseille will toughen up. Where another former Dijonnais, Dimitri Radnic, successfully launched his career two years ago. “A few clubs have come forward. We took the time to discuss with everyone: there is a desire to be on the pitch but also individual, physical development. There will be real collaboration between the two parties,” explains Fabien Romeyer.

After Robin Ducoté (21), who extended his lease for several seasons, the JDA can therefore congratulate itself on having released another promising element from its training center. “That’s two in a short time. It is a great success. For Ilias, it’s the beginning, he still has to prove. This change of environment, this autonomy, being confronted with the demands of a high level, undergoing pressure, all these elements will do him good. He needs to go through this stage, ”concludes the Dijon leader.

Before joining Évreux (fifth in Pro B this season), Ilias Kamardine should have a busy summer. Currently training with the France U20 team in Lot-et-Garonne (two matches are scheduled against the Czech Republic, June 26 and 27), he hopes to take part in the Euro in Podgorica (Montenegro), from July 16 to 24.

He needs to go through that stage.
