The Aureliano touch is the Aurélien Tchouaméni touch (pronounced ‘Orelien Shuameni’), a touch of distinction for stealing (balls) on the pitch and for wearing at official Real Madrid events, even if they include the Décima anthem.

The unwritten Constitution of Real says that in Madrid it is ugly to defend, unless there is no other choice… and it is done with elegance, which is precisely the Aurélien elegance provided by Aurélien Tchouaméni, who has the name of a soldier emperor (‘restorer of the world ‘, nothing less) that left us in Rome some Aurelian walls that were the last defensive system of the empire, like what is expected of Tchouaméni in the Bernabéu of post-history.

Aurelian is not much of an emperor, and yet, if Aurelian had not existed, Gibbon would have had five of his six tomes on the decline and fall of the Roman Empire left over.
