“If I were Nadal I would continue infiltrating Wimbledon and the US Open”

Tennis legend John McEnroe gave an interview to Forbes magazine in which he analyzed his expectations about what he expects from Novak Djokovic and Rafa Nadal at Wimbledon, one of the great tournaments on the calendar.

‘Big Mac’ sees Djokovic as the great favorite for the title, whom he hopes will not continue to burden him with his controversial episode at the start of the season in Australia, although he also sees it very difficult for the Serbian to repeat his achievements from last year. “I think Djokovic is ready for a great performance, although I am not 100% sure. I think he is the big favorite but there are also options for tennis players who you think can’t win it and other hopefuls who can win it. I hope Djokovic plays his best because it would be very sad if what happened in Australia continues to affect him. And it is also very difficult for him to repeat what he did last year. Let’s face it, it’s very difficult for him to do it again.”

McEnroe also spoke about Rafa Nadal’s options and expressed his surprise at the fact that Rafa Nadal has decided not to play undercover at Wimbledon despite the fact that this treatment gave him good results at Roland Garros. “I think this will be the most difficult Grand Slam for Nadal because if we look at what he said at Roland Garros, it had infiltrated the foot for some if not all matches. I can’t believe I decided not to now. I’m not sure how he did it, but he won seven games and he was amazing too. If I was 36 years old and I don’t know how much more I’m going to play and I have the option to go for the Grand Slam, I would start infiltrating the foot again for Wimbledon and the US Open. So would I. It is possible that he can play several years, but he also said that he wants to walk when he has children, and that is a risk that no athlete wants to take”.
