Thomas Hässler (56) did it. As the coach of BFC Preussen, the 1990 world champion was promoted to the Berlin league (6th division).

A 2:3 defeat at Stern Britz was enough for his team to get promoted in the relegation second leg of the national league.

The Prussians won the first leg on Wednesday 5-0. Häßler: “After the first leg, many thought it was already decided. In the end we deservedly prevailed. I’m proud of what the boys did with the temperatures.”

What’s next? In the Berlin league, a midfield place is needed. Defensive man Christoph Menz (33) should help. The ex-Union professional from third division relegated Viktoria 89 is negotiating with the world champion.
